About the role

The Tech Lead owns the technical direction, quality and security of Fortiro's enterprise SaaS platform. You will lead the design and delivery of scalable, secure and compliant solutions on AWS, set the engineering standard for the team, and act as the technical authority that keeps every change aligned to the product's strategic vision.

You will also be the technical voice on security and compliance for our customers, supporting the trust that leading banks, lenders and insurers place in Fortiro.

What you’ll be doing

Lead technical design and architecture

• Own the platform’s technical direction, aligned to the product roadmap and strategic vision

• Architect scalable, secure AWS systems with built-in redundancy and high availability

• Work with Product to turn business and customer requirements into robust solutions

• Challenge inefficient or insecure designs before they reach delivery

Drive secure, high-quality delivery

• Lead design, development and deployment across the full SDLC

• Review and approve design and code changes

• Build security, efficiency and compliance into every stage

• Deliver predictably within agile processes

Own platform security and compliance

• Oversee compliance monitoring, configuration management and identity management

• Respond to customer security assessments and questionnaires

• Partner with Customer and Sales teams on enterprise security requirements

Lead and develop the engineering team

• Mentor developers and build a high-performing team

• Set and uphold engineering standards through code reviews and design discussions

• Grow capability across the team to remove single points of knowledge

Keep the platform reliable and well documented

• Monitor performance, availability and security proactively

• Lead incident response and drive root-cause fixes

• Document the solution architecture and QA documentation prepared by others

What you’ll bring

• 8+ years in software engineering, including leading delivery of a cloud-based SaaS platform as a Tech Lead or senior engineer

• Strong Java and Spring Framework skills

• Hands-on AWS expertise, ideally across ECS, Lambda, Step Functions, Cognito, RDS, CloudWatch and Security Hub

• Proven ability to design reliable, secure systems and implement common compliance requirements

• Experience managing and monitoring compliance in cloud environments using recognised frameworks

• End-to-end SDLC leadership, with a track record of secure, high-quality delivery in agile teams

• Strong leadership and communication, including explaining complex topics to non-technical audiences

• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or similar, or equivalent industry experience

Bonus points for: building SaaS for banks, lenders, insurers or other regulated industries, and exposure to AI/ML or document processing.
