Yubico Targets the Identity Gap That Phishing-Resistant Logins Leave Open
Yubico has announced YubiID, a new service aimed at a weakness that remains even when a business uses phishing-resistant authentication. Strong login methods protect an account once it is set up, but the steps around enrollment and recovery can still be exploited if a person's identity is not properly confirmed.
According to Dark Reading, YubiID bridges identity verification with credential enrollment and recovery across existing identity platforms. The aim is to close this gap, so that the process of issuing or restoring a security credential is as trustworthy as the credential itself.
The announcement also includes a beta of a post-quantum YubiKey. The summary does not provide further detail on either product, so businesses should check Yubico's documentation before making decisions.
