Google Releases Chrome 151 Update to Fix Critical Security Flaws

Google has rolled out Chrome 151, a security update addressing more than two dozen memory safety vulnerabilities, including several rated critical. Among these are 'use-after-free' flaws, a type of bug that can allow attackers to run malicious code on a victim's device simply by having them visit a compromised or malicious website.

Memory safety issues like these are among the most common ways attackers gain unauthorized access to browsers, often without any obvious warning signs to the user. Because Chrome is widely used across Australian small businesses for everyday tasks like email, banking, and cloud applications, unpatched vulnerabilities can create a serious entry point for cybercriminals.

Google has already pushed the fix through its automatic update system, but businesses should not assume every device is up to date, especially if browsers are rarely closed or restarted. Staff working from personal or older devices may also be more exposed if updates have been delayed or disabled.
