Fake XRP Airdrop Scams Target Crypto Investors, Foundation Warns

The XRP Ledger Foundation and RippleX have issued public warnings about a wave of scams targeting XRP holders. Fraudsters are running fake airdrop promotions, phishing campaigns, and fraudulent "reward scanner" tools designed to trick investors into handing over sensitive information or connecting their wallets to malicious sites.

According to the alerts posted on X, scammers are impersonating official accounts to appear legitimate, making the fake promotions harder to spot. These scams typically lure victims with promises of free tokens or rewards, then steal login credentials, seed phrases, or wallet access once the victim engages.

While this campaign targets individual cryptocurrency investors rather than businesses directly, small businesses that hold or transact in cryptocurrency, or whose staff may be personally targeted using work devices, should be aware of the tactics involved. Impersonation scams and phishing lures are common techniques used across many types of cyberattacks, not just crypto fraud.
