ASUS eShop Breach Exposes Customer Contact and Order Details

Asus has told eShop customers that an unauthorised party gained access to part of its online store environment, potentially exposing contact details and order records. The company has not disclosed how many customers are affected, when the breach began, or how the attacker got in.

Asus confirmed that no payment card, bank account, or other financial information was involved, and it says it has found no evidence the stolen data has been misused so far. The company has taken steps to contain the incident, launched an investigation, and added extra security measures to the affected systems, though the probe is still ongoing.

While the exposed data is limited, it could still be useful to scammers. Asus warned that details like contact information and past orders could make phishing emails, texts, or calls referencing customers' purchases appear more convincing. This follows a separate incident in December where an Asus supplier was hit by ransomware, though Asus said its own customer data was not affected in that case.
