JPMorgan's Jamie Dimon Says AI Has Raised Cyber Risk Tenfold
JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon has warned that cybersecurity risks have grown sharply because of advanced AI. Speaking to Bloomberg TV on Tuesday, he said risks "went up 10-fold after Mythos", referring to Anthropic's AI model. He added that AI created vulnerabilities the bank did not know about, even though cyber risk was already a major concern before these tools appeared.
Dimon has long described cybersecurity as one of the bank's biggest risks, which makes the comments notable. They come as frontier AI developers face closer scrutiny over the safety of their most advanced models. The source article says Anthropic and OpenAI disclosed separate incidents during safety testing in recent months, raising questions about how reliably their most capable models can be controlled. Some researchers, executives and lawmakers have called for stronger international cooperation, and some have urged a slowdown in frontier AI development until safeguards improve.
Dimon stressed that the concern is real, pointing to risks from AI agents and Mythos that "can cause trouble". However, he argued against alarmism. He said he would not get "hysterical" about whether the threat is existential, and that the bank is instead "rolling up our sleeves" to fix the problem.
